Mr Nick Maycock

Mr Maycock trained at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Hospital medical school in London before completing his higher ophthalmic training in University Hospital Southampton and the Wessex Deanery.

Advanced subspeciality training and corneal fellowships were completed at St Thomas’ Hospital in London and he was appointed as a substantive NHS consultant and clinical lead for the corneal service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust. It is the main teaching hospital for Warwick Medical School where he has worked as a clinical personal tutor and undergraduate examiner.

He was awarded a distinction in the Ulster University postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery (PGDipCRS) and has since been invited to become a tutor and Visiting Professor on the course. He has been awarded the Royal College of Ophthalmologists certificate of laser refractive surgery (CertLRS).

He regularly presents at National and International conferences and is actively involved in research having spent a few years working in the pharmaceutical industry . Mr Maycock has over 35 publications and recently co-authored a leading textbook on corneal topography

He is passionate about training the next generation of doctors and ophthalmologists. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is a past member of their microsurgical skills training faculty. He is a past committee member of the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) Young Ophthalmologist Program (YOP).

When not at work, Mr Maycock enjoys travelling with his wife and young family. He is a keen cyclist, runner and skier!
