LENSTAR™ LS 900 Technology Laser Vision

LENSTAR™ LS 900

The Lenstar™ LS 900 uses a new technology known as optical low coherence reflectometry (OLCR) in order to precisely measure the distance between the front and back of the eye.

This measurement is used to calculate the appropriate choice of implanted lens in procedures such as cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange. The device also performs dual-zone keratometry to improve the efficacy and safety of toric lens surgery.

Sirius™ Topographer LaserVision Technology

Sirius™ Topographer

The Schwind Sirius™ Topographer utilises a rotating Scheimpflug camera with a Placido disc to deliver a quick and three-dimensional analysis of the whole cornea and anterior segment of the eye.

With a high resolution of one micrometre, the Schwind Sirius™ Topographer detects the smallest of irregularities to allow early diagnosis of conditions such as Keratoconus.

Zeiss IOLMaster™

Zeiss IOLMaster™

The Zeiss IOLMaster® 500 is widely considered to be the gold standard authority in optical biometry. This device boasts more than 100 million successful IOL calculations to date.

Laser Vision clinicians can image both of your eyes using the Zeiss IOLMaster® 500 within a mere 60 seconds. The results of a meta-analysis of 28 published clinical papers covering more than 1900 cases show that the reported clinical outcomes for the ZEISS IOLMaster with regard to residual astigmatism “[…] exceed, or are at least as good as those using manual or automated keratometry.”

Visiometrics HD Analyzer™

Visiometrics HD Analyzer™

The HD Analyzer™ uses double pass technology to provide an objective measure of visual quality.

This device is uniquely capable of quantifying light scatter on a person’s vision, thereby ascertaining early cataract diagnosis, dry eye diagnosis, and improve the decision making for the most appropriate treatment prior to surgery.

An objective measure of visual quality, this technology forms a critical part of the decision making process.

Zeiss IOLMaster® 700

The Zeiss IOLMaster® 700 utilises swept-source OCT technology to accurately measure the distance between the front and back of the eye (the practice of Biometry).

This device yields greater visual outcomes for patients with a history of refractive surgery and advanced/dense cataracts; reducing the risk of refractive surprise.

Zeiss Humphrey Field Analyser 3

The ‘Humphrey’ has been the recognised, gold standard method of testing peripheral vision for decades.

This latest iteration tests specific areas of your vision which are known to be defective in the very earliest stages of glaucoma.

Laser Vision ophthalmologists use this device in conjunction with other diagnostic tools such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to diagnose glaucoma earlier and treat it more effectively.

Optopol Revo FC

The Optopol Revo FC combines anterior and posterior segment optical coherence tomography with a full-colour fundus photo.

This diagnostic tool has an eye tracking function which compensates for blinking, loss of fixation and involuntary eye movements, resulting in high-quality diagnostic images within seconds.

The high density of a standard 3D scan allows Laser Vision ophthalmologists to precisely track the disease progression of glaucoma. The operator can analyse changes in morphology, quantified progression maps and evaluate the progression trends.

Ziemer Z8

Ziemer Z8

Ziemer Z8 LDV is a Swiss-made precision femtosecond laser that is widely recognised as the lowest energy and fastest repetition rate femtosecond laser available on the market today. The result is high-quality LASIK flaps with no opaque bubbling.

Laser Vision surgeons are proud to use this device because it allows them to perform needle and blade-free surgery on virtually all patients; yielding unprecedented results. The Ziemer Z8 femtosecond laser represents the most significant advancement in cataract and lens surgery in the last 25 years.

IntraLase™ iFS™ 150

IntraLase™ iFS™ 150

IntraLase™ iFS™ (AMO) is another advanced technology femtosecond laser that also allows an all-laser LASIK solution. This laser is believed to be the most widely used femtosecond laser platform in the world.

WaveLight® Allegretto

WaveLight® Allegretto

These lasers have pioneered the use of wavefront technology for laser refractive surgery. With hundreds of thousands of successful operations, they have earned a strong reputation for safety and precision. These lasers use a scanning-spot excimer laser system with high (400Hz) pulse frequencies .

Laser spot positioning is achieved by the use of a galvanometer scanner, as well as a fast eye-tracker to register the eye position and to control the laser direction accordingly. Wavefront-Optimised or Customised corrections are delivered using topography and wavefront data, and interestingly the individual laser pulses have a small ablation diameter of just 0.95mm and a Gaussian shaped profile. This feature creates a “cool, smooth laser” along with short treatment time.

Zeiss Mel80 Excimer Laser

Zeiss Mel80 Excimer Laser

The Zeiss Mel 80 excimer laser is a ZEISS laser, designed to make the correction of vision defects even safer, more patient-friendly and individual. All the parameters of this ultramodern work platform are oriented towards increasing efficiency, achieving optimum treatment results and the rapid recovery of vision.

Key factors here are the very high ablation rate, the high-performance eyetracker system and individual treatment planning with the optional CRS-Master®.

SCHWIND AMARIS® 750S Excimer Laser Technology

SCHWIND AMARIS® 750S Excimer Laser

This Schwind laser® adopts an extremely high ablation speed of 750 Hertz in conjunction with a 5-dimensional eye tracker. It’s software enables surgeons to perform tailor made treatments based on highly detailed wavefront profiles. The selected treatment delivered by the laser is precisely calculated to optimise corneal tissue. Where a surface procedure is selected as the most appropriate treatment, this laser offers ‘no touch’ advanced surface ablation through its Trans PRK option.

This is surface treatment involving the corneal surface epithelium being removed by the laser. Where LASIK is selected, this laser is coupled with our 5th generation IntraLase™ iFS™ Advanced Femtosecond laser to achieve an all-laser LASIK solution – a versatile tool that preserves corneal innervation and allows post-operative healing by creating a biomechanically stable corneal flap.

VisuMax Femtosecond System Technology Surrey

VisuMax Femtosecond System

With the VisuMax®, ZEISS is significantly shaping the world of refractive surgery. This ground-breaking laser system employs high-performance femtosecond laser technology and is characterized by its outstanding cutting precision, unsurpassed speed and gentle treatment technique. The VisuMax is thus the ideal platform for therapeutic and refractive applications of cutting-edge corneal surgery.

Schwind Amaris® 1050 RS

The Schwind Amaris® 1050 RS uses an unsurpassed repetition rate of 1050 Hz to deliver high-precision, fast treatments. It takes merely 1.3 seconds to treat 1 dioptre of spectacle prescription.

This device intelligently delivers the lowest amount of energy required to complete your treatment through a technology known as Automatic Fluence Level Adjustment (AFLA). This means that approximately 80% of your treatment is performed at a high fluence value and the remaining 20% at a lower fluence level.

The result is short treatment times, quicker recovery and accurate treatments. The Schwind Amaris® 1050 RS also uses active 7D eye tracking to compensate for any eye movements that you make during the procedure.

Single Vision Lens

Single Vision Lens

These are lenses which have a single prescription over the whole lens. These styles of lenses give excellent vision at a set distance and are often suitable for patients who don’t mind wearing glasses for certain common activities.

Toric Lens

Toric Lens

These lenses are designed to correct astigmatic errors within the eye and thereby minimize dependence upon spectacles after surgery. With custom made lenses, very high astigmatic prescriptions can be corrected with excellent outcomes.

Toric lenses can be obtained in single focus, multifocal and trifocal lens styles.

Accommodating Lens

Accommodating Lens

These lenses are designed to mimic the ability of the eye to accommodate prior to presbyopia by using a movable lens. These lenses often obtain excellent distance and intermediate vision. Reading vision is dependent on several factors but it is not uncommon to require reading glasses after surgery.

The benefits of these lenses are that they avoid the potential side effects of a multifocal lens but give an extended range of vision and therefore reduce dependence upon spectacles after surgery.

IC-8™ Lens

IC-8™ Lens

The IC-8 lens is a synthetic implant that replaces your eye’s natural lens and provides clear vision at virtually all distances. The lens includes a mini ring with a pinhole in the center. This advanced design helps focus the light entering the eye and once again allows you to see from near to far clearly.

This mini-ring creates a pinhole effect, which extends your natural range of vision (near to far) by funneling light through the center of the ring so that only focused light rays enter your eye.

Multifocal Lens

Multifocal Lens

These lenses are designed to maximize the range of vision by providing multiple focal points at distance, intermediate and near vision. They are an excellent choice for motivated patients wishing to minimize dependence upon spectacles after surgery.

They are generally very successful, but there is a degree of compromise. Some patients will notice a degree of glare and haloes around lights, especially at night, due to light scatter. Although this is generally not too bothersome, a small minority of patients may find it troublesome. These effects often improve with time.

For patients deciding for a premium lens solution, access to LASEK after surgery is essential as approximately 5%-7% of patients may require a minor adjustment to enhance clarity of focus after surgery and obtain the best potential vision.
