We are excited to announce that our full surgical retinal (vitreoretinal) service is now live, offering a complete in-house pathway for patients requiring advanced retinal surgery.

This service has been enabled through major investment in state-of-the-art surgical technology, including:

• A dedicated Zeiss Lumera 700 vitreoretinal microscope (widely regarded as the gold standard in VR surgery)
• The Alcon UNITY Vitreoretinal Cataract System, Alcon’s latest and most modern platform for vitreoretinal surgery

We are amongst the first clinics in the UK to deliver vitreoretinal surgery using this specific UNITY platform.

Why the UNITY system matters

The UNITY system offers several important advantages over previous generations of VR machines, including:

• Improved fluidic dynamics and stability control, enabling surgery to be performed at lower intraocular pressures, rather than the higher pressures traditionally required
• The highest cut rate currently available in vitreoretinal platforms, supporting greater precision and reduced surgical trauma
